you can read more about the restaurants here

so far i have been to ida mae's bruncherie, sketch burger, johnny brenda's, and green rock tavern. i recommend each one of them. ida mae's has a great open kitchen serving delicious homemade food. sketch has never-frozen handmade burgers (veggie - turkey - sirloin - kobe ) with various toppings, handcut fries and shakes. johnny brenda's just received recognition for great food at a venue by gourmet magazine. the green rock has delicious food (amazing fries) and local beers on draft.

a local coffee company with a mission

mike and i were wandering around whole foods yesterday trying not to be enticed by all the delicious foods around us when we saw coffee samples. both of us were lacking sleep from the night before so this was perfect.

one village coffee (onevillagecoffee.com) roasts premium coffee in soderton, pa - a half hour outside of philly. their mission is to "create an exceptional cup of coffee in every roast" and to support communities locally and internationally. they have 17 different coffees; out of the 3 i tried, the smart blend was my coffee of choice. it is a mocca-java medium-dark roast with hints of cocoa and blueberry. for the month of april they are offering free shipping on orders of two bags or more.

there is nothing like a good cup of coffee - especially when you know you are supporting a local business with a good cause.

mexican breakfast for dinner

last night mike was studying for a neurology exam so i decided to make him a meal that would lift his spirits. we had an avocado that we needed to use up so i decided to do a mexican spin on a breakfast sandwich.

i scrambled 4 eggs with some milk, salt, pepper and added cheddar cheese and pieces of red pepper. i then mixed 1 avocado with a quarter cup of sour cream along with a squirt of lemon juice, salt, pepper, a dash of cumin, and some shiracha hot sauce. I toasted four pieces of artisan whole wheat bread and spread a little butter on them. I then topped a slice with the egg mixture, added a layer of the avocado cream and then put a little salsa on top. i completed my sandwich by topping it with another slice of bread. I served my breakfast creation with some home fries that I baked in olive oil and seasoned with rosemary, garlic, red onion, cilantro, salt and pepper.
